- GARNET |
A word or two about the various stones: Garnet: "Dark red colors are settling, constant and grounding. A gem of faith, truth and constancy, garnet promotes sincerity and devotion. It was thought to drive away melancholy, protect against bad dreams, and cure depression." Varieties: Almandine, Pyrope, Rhodolite, Spessartite, Grossular, Demantoid Amethyst: "Infamous as the gem of Bacchus and bishops, royal amethyst spells armor in many languages and is thought to have magical, mystical or supernatural powers." "Egyptian warriors carried amulets of amethyst to prepare for death, but European soldiers wore it to preserve them in battle" Aquamarine: "Blue is security, self-knowing and authority. The coolest, most aloof and inward turned of all colors, the gem is soothing and cooling like sea water. Used for general self-protection, it promoted clarity of self, desire, and knowing; thus helping regain one's self-composure, particularly when angry or fearful. Whether in battle or in litigation, the wearer is thus rendered unconquerable." Diamond: "Because of its colorlessness, many ascribed virtues relate to an unconquerable hardness or purity and transparency. Its unsurpassable density inspires the belief that this gem promises indomitable strength, invincibility, and everlasting ies. Mistakenly considered imperishable, it is alleged to make vows totally solid and lasting." May: "Green is balance which creates prosperity, consisting of health, love and wealth. Suggestive of the reproductive forces of nature, emerald was dedicated to Venus the Goddess of Love. As the "lover's" or "marriage stone", the gem was suppose to incite, increase or awaken love. It was symbolic of reproduction and resurrection, so Egyptians wore it to ensure their fertility or achieve favorable rebirth or reincarnation." Alexandrite: "Alexandrite's chameleon-like green and red were the Russian national colors. In 1830, it was discovered in the Ural Mountains on heir apparent Czar Alexander's 21st bitrthday." "Chrysoberyls are reputed to bring excellent luck, a lot of which depends on keeping your eyes open." Ruby: "Resplendent, romantic and rare, ruby has always been favored by rajahs, rulers and kings for protection, power and petency." "Red connotes a physical power, strength, action or passion. While associated with command and forceful leadership, rubies are believed to contain the bloodline of humanity..." Peridot: "Perfect and persistent the ancients believed peridot fell to earth from explosions of the sun, they called it "the stone of heaven,"..." "Green is marriage, family, nurturing, loving and caring for others, and peridot is known as a stone of friendship, bringing happiness in marriage and keeping the mind free from envy." Sapphire: "A splendid, special gem, historically used by the priests, psychics and philosophers for celestial, cosmic, divine or intuitive insight. Among the universally acclaimed four precious gems and a sacred and royal symbol..." "Indigo is unity, unifying or unified energy and is correlated with conciousness and the "third eye," it was used for ecclesiastical rings and in the study of the stars." Blue is not the only color! Tourmaline: "Tourmaline is a wonder of the mineral kingdom, with its incomparable diversity of color, complex crystal form, remarkable range of physical properties, and a most unusual lack of history." "Tourmaline is transforming the physical or changing from one kind or type of thing into another; as the stone changes in coloration and chemical properties. Characteristic of attunement to change and creating or making real out of the ethers of the Universe, including transcendent inspiration and creativity." Topaz: "Through the ages, treasured topaz has been sought for its fiery light, to guide weary travelers and enlighten troubled minds. Symbolic of the sun, topaz has always been associated with light, heat, fire and illumination." "Yellow is intellect, wisdom, thinking, etc., and topaz-generally thought of as a transparent golden yellow - is associated with mental powers and was used as a means of increasing one's wisdom and prudence." Blue is not the natural color of topaz. Zircon: "Renown since antient times as one of the remarkable, precious and mythological gems, zircon's intense fire and sparkling brilliance make it a great gemstone." "As a travelers amulet, zircon protected one from both disease or injury and ensured a cordial welcome on the road. Thought to have power to prevent plague, which is a social disease, zircon increases social honor and therefore riches, power and glory." Blue is obtained through heat treatment. Natural colors of Zircon are orange, red, yellow, green or brown. AND Zircon is not Cubic Zirconia
